I graduated the university in 1986, so I can only speak historically, and from what I have seen since my departure. I absolutely loved my time at USM. What more could one ask for in a college experience? I am really surprised by some of the comments I have read here. Hattiesburg was a great place to live and socialize. It is not far from the coast, nor New Orleans. The intramural programs were fantastic, and the campus was always clean and vibrant. Even the food at he dormitory was good. I am sure people can always find things to complain about, but for me my education at USM was used as a stepping stone to graduate school and what most would consider a very successful career. The friends I made there I will never forget, and the great times I had there will last a lifetime. I cherish the weekend getaways to local river and the part time job I had at the local lake and gold course.I wish for my children to have as good experience in their college life as I had in mine.
