Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
Westconn is actually not that bad of a school. And it's not a below average school, at least not Ancell's School of Business, where their business programs exceed most others in the state only behind very few. Not sure how the Sciences and Arts reflect, but the Business school is pretty good. As far other aspects of the college, yes it is an extremely small school. Being former high and middle schools, many of the buildings are outdated and rather "old to date" with today's standards; and since the school is in midtown Danbury and the West campus side isn't too far ahead, it's difficult to get a peaceful quite space. I would say the biggest complaint about WCSU is the Campus noise. Since it is in the heart of the small city of Danbury, sirens of all kinds are going off just about every hour as it seems like and the hospital is only a quarter of the mile away. It can be quite a distraction at times and difficult to study, but I guess you get used to them.As far others complaining about the teachers, it all depends on the teacher. I myself have done research on every teacher before taking them, making sure: A) I will achieve something by taking their class and B) They will make my life easier by the way they present, represent, and handle their own classroom. By further researching every teacher, one can get a good idea on whether the class and professor would be a right fit for the student. Remember, everyone of us are different and have different requirements and agendas in life. Now back to other StudentsReviews on the students of Westconn, I couldnt agree more with them. Most of the students here are unprepared for college and are unsure of what they want to accomplish. So instead of taking advantage of an education that will allow them to only succeed their self further in life, many are taking this as an opportunity of having fun, just chilling, laying back, and pretty much wasting their time. You have the potential of meeting nice, friendly, and inspiring individuals who are making the best out of it, however only a few exist and are rather difficult to find. Most of the students here appear to take each class and professor as a joke, by leaving class early and coming in late each time, or simply skipping classes from time to time. Most of the students are involved in partying. Which there is nothing wrong with partying to celebrate an occasion or to enjoy life once in a while; however Westconn Students prefer to party four times a week, as it seems like every other day, students are getting intoxicated, in trouble, and just wasting their parents money and time. The campus life of Westconn is pretty horrendous. With the lack of activities, clubs, and sports, campus life is rather boring and difficult to deal with. There are sports like basketball, baseball, football, and so on. However many of these sports do not have any type of tryout. Your either name worthy or not, and if your name looks good on paper, you get recruited, other than that, its not a fair game. As far clubs, Westconn offers a tiny variety of clubs. I say Tiny because my high school had more to offer than Westconns club do. The only thing that seems to be going for WCSUs campus life is their fraternities and sororities. This is what makes campus life at Westconn involved somewhat. However, this may be the problem with campus life, suggesting that WCSU focuses too much on their frats and sororities and there not making enough effort into the other aspects of life on campus. Sororities and Fraternities are viewed upon as a negative at WCSU because although they claim theyre here to achieve academic excellence, the true goal their achieving is socializing to an extent of excellence. Which is good if you want to make friends and meet new people, however these frats and sororities are about drinking and partying four days a night. If you ask me, too much socializing and not enough academic achieving. I would not recommend joining a sorority or fraternity; I have seen many fall apart, receive lower grades, and even fail out of school because of them, where instead they should be taking on new professions, challenges, and other academics to help themselves succeed their selves better in everyday life by building a resume. The majority of students who join a frat or sorority join up because they feel lonely and feel like they dont have any goals to achieve, have a lack of understanding and motivation, and are confused on where to go next. This is where they get their selves in trouble. This could be WCSUs biggest dilemma on whether sororities and frats are really good for campus life of Westconn, or do they actually hurt the students more.Other than the lack of activities, clubs, sports, and general campus life, WCSU appears to be a solid school for the money. If you know what you want to achieve, where you want to go, and you have some motivation, you will succeed and can further use this education at Westconn to your advantage in future higher education programs, or professions. Good luck!
