Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
This whole transition into Hunter has been a nightmare. If the staff were nicer, it might not be so bad, but they are downright condescending and openly treat you how you feel about some customers at your own job, but hide because ITS YOUR JOB. I have never dealt with ruder people. Lady (Rivera) in Fin. Aid literally told me "Oh well." today when I illustrated that finding out my tuition due date was being deferred tomorrow would be too late when my schedule was dropped.I am not new to transferring and attending college. I started at a community college, transferred to another when I moved and then to Hunter when I maxed out my associates with my last school. Both of those SUNY schools were fine. I did everything on my own and didn't need my hand held- they were pretty organizing in having the resources available to you so you could self-educate. The second had some mixups with financial aid but nothing insane. Hunter on the other hand is extremely convoluted with the way they do things. First of all, I was under the impression I HAD to take a transfer orientation session to register,as that is what everyone kept telling me. So I waited. BAD IDEA. I didn't register until after New Years (as the weeks leading up to Christmas is impossible to do anything in) and I have all garbage courses just to keep my schedule. Financial aid also takes forever. Do no trust anything on the website as far as financial aid is concerned. Go straight to Financial Aid and ignore the fact they are rude and are trying push you out. Ask them everything you need to get done and don't take being passed to the next department. My first day there, I got shuffled to 5 different offices so my shit could get done. This is also the first school where I had to physically visit the head of a dept or whatever to declare my major. I ended up having to call into work to get this done as he wasn't there until late afternoon- ridiculous. Also, making you pay the balance in full before the semester even begins is unfair and insane. They wouldn't take any proof of my financial aid being on its way as an excuse to defer my due date, so I will probably lose my entire garbage schedule tomorrow and have to register even worse classes.
