I'm getting my AA this June. I've already been accepted at UF, and I'm waiting on UM, but I most likely got accepted. My major will be telecommunications. I'm not sure if it's better for me to study at UF or UM. UF is 4 colleges above UM when I looked at a list of top colleges. I would like to get an internship. Gainesville is a college town, and Miami is a growing city. I would imagine it's growing in my field of study. Once I get my Master's, I plan to start my career in Miami. My dilemma is which university to study in. Maybe if it's in UM, I can start making connections, make future references, and get people to know me and how I work. I don't know what tv stations are looking for when searching for anchors (my future position). I'd appreciate any thoughts, comments, feedback, suggestions, etc. (Especially from any of you who are knowledgeable in this area of study) |

Read this all the way through, I truly believe it can help you make up your mind to go or not to go.I Came from Midwest. I was very bright and well-liked. Descent looks. Professionally this school did wonders for me. Psychologically it chewed me up and spit me out. The coursework was relatively was easy. More importantly, as a business student, you will make more connections here than possibly any other place in the country. The rich of the rich send their kids here to "have a good time" and learn somehting for four years.Understand what you're getting yourself into: the career, social life, and entertainment opportunities are endless and vast, but this is a place where naivity will make you look like an ass and people aren't as friendly as other places. Looks are very important, so is money. Status is also important and noticed. People that don't have either can still do well here, but understand that those factors are in play.If you have thick skin this is a place where your wildest dreams can come true. If you do not, then don't come here. Odds are you will be very troubled for four years.I don't regret my decision by any means, but given the opportunity to go through I would have probably chosen a school on the west coast.
