CSU is a great school, but the town hates students. The police and city council really make more than needed conflict. They try to sell it as a retirement community, but everyone knows its a college town. Every year there is a riot or something that cops initiate. They charge outrageous fines for little things. You just learn to live in the system for a while. The housing and landlords situation is bad, its best to buy a house for the 4 years then sell it when you leave. Academically, it is a science school. The natural resources and vet programs are the best in the country. The math program is horrible and the general requirements really feel like a waste of time, but some majors give you a lot of flexibility. There is more opportunities for undergrads to get real experience than most places. I definitely had a leg up on the competition when I went to graduate school at a different state school. I made amazing friends here that are still my best friends even though we are all far apart now. The parties/bar scene/football culture is great. Everyone is very friendly and outgoing. The frat scene is not big, but it is there. There are definitely groups of people, but everyone gets along. Lots of in state people that just hang out with their high school friends, but after a while they seem to grow out of that. After a while it seems like everyone knows each other and it starts to feel like a small school. I wish I could do it again!
