Wilson College wasn't what I quite expected it to be. I feel as though it is much like high school here - no one really wants to make the effort to do any work. A lot of students have a "whatever", lacisdasical attitude, and that gets annoying; if you don't want to make the effort then leave. Then there are the maintenance people who are getting pissy about all of the complaints about the heating problems. The heat wouldn't be as big of a problem as it is if a)the system itself wasn't as old as it is and b) if they didn't do half-jobs - they wouldn't have to keep coming back. Then there's the dining hall. People here at Wilson preach about eating healthy, and yet we are served food that is only sometimes edible - we only eat it because we can't afford to keep going out. We are allowed to leave comments about the food - whether it is good or bad - and most comments are either ignored or responded to with scarcastic/ignorant comments. That's not all - the problems at the barns here (with the staff and borders) are really getting out of hand. The attitude portrayed by 99% of the staff is that borders should be lukcy that they can bored their horses here, yet those that say and act like that sit in their office and play games. If you're not crazy-insane about either dressage or hunt seat, you're looked down upon. The professors, that I have at least, are excellent. They really motivate me - make me want to do better. There is one thing, though, that I think hinders our learning here more than it helps, and that is: In the biology classes, it is divided up in such a way that one professor teaches one section of material and another professers teacehes another section, and they rotate. Both have very different styles of teaching, as do all teachers, but when teaching the same subject, some consistancy would be nice.
