Wayne State is known as the working man's school. Many of the students here work one, sometimes two jobs and go to school full time. Both my mother and my father are alumni here. When I first graduated from highschool I was elated to go here. I was proud to continue the tradition of attending Wayne State.

Now I am going into my third year and I regret going to this school completely. My first year my advisor preyed on my lack of knowing anything about the school and gave me a bunch of classes that I didn't need. They weren't exactly the most friendly and their main goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible.

The campus is right in the middle of Detroit. There's nothing spectacular at all about it. Parking is almost impossible to find and sometimes you have to walk miles to get to class in the dead of winter. There are bums roaming the campus going through the trash and don't be suprised to find them in the bathroom either. Campus safety is almost non existent. People are constantly getting robbed and cars are broken into or stolen.

Many of the professors I've encountered haven't have the time to give the individual attention. Then again this school has about 35,000 people what did I expect? I've had professors that have talked to the class like were still in kindergarten and then I've had ones that were nice and willing to help. It depends on how lucky you are.

The best thing I can say about this school is that the student body is ethnically diverse. You have blacks, whites, asians, arabs, indians and hispanics and many other people from international countries. Also the school has an excellent law school and that would be important if I decided to stay at Wayne State but unfortunately for them I am not.

If you end up at Wayne State make the best of it. Be careful safety wise and don't expect to be challenged too much.
