Eastern Michigan is a major commuter school, which I knew when coming in. I figured that wouldn't be a problem since I was going to be on a athletic team. The faculty is very friendly, approachable and intelligent. I have yet to get a teach that I do not like or is not friendly or helpful. The student are nice as well, but many of them commute which means on the weekends the parking lot is empty, literally empty. Also, Ypsilanti is not a college town. Ann Arbor has a really neat downtown but to get to the grocery store in Ypsilanti you need a car or will have to do a 1/2 hour or more bus ride. Also around campus there is only Jimmy John's, a few pizza places but no movie theater, no bowling alley, basically nothing fun is close by. If you want to go to a school where the academics are easy and not fully challenging, where you can get drunk every weekend and even during the week and there is a very limited amount of residential students the EMU is where you should go. Basically the teachers are great but the school sucks.

athletes:: if you are a athlete looking at EMU know that the teams are big big big party people. many are drunk all weekend and even during practices. The athletes are also very snooty, and full of themselves, many think they are God's gift to whatever sport they are in. Many of the athletes are not very academically oriented and if you are a athlete with an injury that may not go away. do not. do not go to EMU. the coaches may be supportive but the athletes will tear you apart. If you want to go to a college and be on a college team then don't come here because it is high school all over again only bitchier.
