I am really impressed and thoroughly contented with the surrounding towns/cities. Champaign has a lovely downtown area with 3 great night clubs that always have special events and parties. There are so many places to eat, on and off campus, and every type of restaurant you can think of. Just a 15 minute drive North of campus is a shopping mall and pretty much every department/hardware store you can think of (Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc.) There is a Walgreens and two clothing stores right on campus so you pretty much don't need to leave if you don't want to. There's so much going on too, shows, concerts, frat parties, apartments, bars, and tons of student-organized events. You have to at least come for a weekend and see for yourself!
