SCU is a beautiful school with perks like great food and VERY helpful professors. However, it's in a fairly suburban area. There are a handful of places to eat surrounding the campus but other than that, be ready to take the bus to downtown San Jose or the train to San Francisco. San Jose isn't far at all, but Santa Clara County is NOT known for it's transit system. Everyone in the Silicon Valley drives, so no one gives a damn about the bus system. San Francisco isn't as close as marketing likes to make it seem. You have to take the train and it takes about an hour so when you go, it's usually an all-day excursion. Since there aren't a lot of things to do around SCU, be ready to party. That's what there is at SCU, JUST parties. No one really does much else in terms of social life. It's a pretty clique-y school as well—so find your niche! I'd like for there to be more campus involvement in things, but there isn't. The sense of community is fogged with Coach handbags and Lacoste shirts. THe campus doesn't fit in with northern california at all, it is a soCAL bubble.Unfortunately, you wont learn much about the real world at SCU. But if you don't care about that and are all about aesthetics and paying extra money so that people do everything for you then it's your school!!
