I feel really sorry for all of the people below who obviously didn't get anything out of their smu experience. Bashing the university for it's somewhat wealthy crust is shallow in itself. Ignoring the quality of CLASSES, EDUCATION, and the amazing opportunities and CONNECTIONS SMU provides it's students is ignorant. The Busines school has constantly high rankings and keeps getting better. The Campus faciilities are getting updated, and athletics are taking a turn for the better. So you don't like Bush and you're bashing SMU for taking his library? Well then look at the multiple other schools who APPLIED and WISH they were getting a prestigious presidential library. A top arts school in the nation, a respected business school, a beautiful campus in the heart of a gorgeous Dallas neighborhood: all reasons SMU is a great school that should be respected, even by haters who obviously did not receive the unique social scene well. After my two years here at SMU, i cannot honestly remember two years of my life that i have ever been happier. I have excelled in classes because the small class sizes help me engage in class. The opportunities and connections the school's name provides in the Dallas area provide major motivation to do well in class. The general population is wealthy, but i have honestly not met one person who is as nasty and snooty as anyone previously mentioned in other comments. Greek life can be cut-throat, especially sororities, but all-in-all it provides a great social scene, for greeks and non-greeks.

I personally love SMU. Please don't let the extreme haters sway you away from considering SMU. Honestly, the extreme hate comments are almost unbelieveable and rare. How could it be possible to have such high applicant pools to a "horrible university" as they all say? As far as SMU going under, absolutely no way. SMU is growing by leaps and bounds, physically on campus and intellectually in academics. SMU is anything but a joke. It's a beautiful university with tons of opportunity to fully experience college life, all fitting perfectly into a cozy spot in a large vibrant city.
