I was honestly reluctant to go to Montclair State University because of all the bad stuff I heard about the University. After going there for about two years, I found out a lot of the things I was told were true. The school has major parking problems, food is mediocre, and housing is VERY limited. There are lots of professors that are unhelpful, conservative, and CANNOT teach at all. When you approach them for help, they don't offer efficient and effective help. But there are some professors that are just so awesome in their teaching, willingness for students to succeed, and offer so much help. I wish MSU would get more professors that can teach.

I have to agree that lots of students admitted there are qualified for the college work given or is not really serious with college at all. But there are that really small percentage of students that are just so brilliant and chose to go to MSU.

I think making MSU's goal of having 18,000 students by 2008 is a stupid goal for MSU. The campus is too small and there are not enough professors and workers to meet the needs of all these students. I feel like MSU accepts almost everyone that applies just so they can meet their goal and numbers.

What I love about MSU is that it is a small campus. It is pretty minus the massive fliers posted around campus. Classes are usually about 35 students, but there are also big lecture classes as big as 100 students. There are a variety of majors, courses, programs, workshops, and organizations MSU offers to meet students' needs. I just think it might take 10-15 years or more before MSU will become a better University and more well-known with the RIGHT people leading MSU. I also think it also starts with accepting students that are more serious about college and increasing MSU standards for admissions.

I love the new Rec Center! It's amazing and worth the wait.

Every university, college, and institute has its pros and cons. Find out what you want for college and go visit the school to see if it is really right for you…you don't want to end up at a school and realize it is totally wrong for you.
