Like the previous poster, I am a student from out of state. However, unlike her, I disagree with everything her review said. Now it's her opinion and she is entitled to what she thinks, and I'm sorry that she had such a bad experience at Chapman. I love Chapman. I'm in the film program, which is a very big major around here. I've worked on a ton of projects. Some with students, some with smaller studios, some even with some of the big shots in Hollywood. The professors are in the field and with the small classes, it's easy to get to know them and pick their brains. Their real life experience gives weight to their answers. I've made a ton of friends in the film school and have been so busy being involved with the film program that I've never once been bored. Orange County has everything you want to do to go with the best weather in the country. The campus is small, intimate and friendly. Yes, there are rich kids and a lot of people do go home on the weekends, but I have a group of friends that I do many different things on the weekend like go to Disneyland, the beach, L.A., San Diego, etc. The actual town of Orange is unique and quirky with their antique shops and cafes. I honestly recommend getting a few friends and getting a place by the beach after freshman year. Sure, it's a 15-20 minute drive to campus, but if your going to live in Southern California, spend the extra bucks and live by the coast.

questionHey :] reading your review has def. put chapman on my list of film schools. im becomeing a nurse right now so ill have some money when i transfer. but my question was is it really competitive to get in? did you go there straight out of high school or did you transfer?

BEST of wishes to you(represent for the females!)

responseHey, thanks for your question! The film school at Chapman is competitive, but you have to know what to compare it to. It's not as competitive as UCLA, USC or NYU. It's probably close to Ohio State, Texas, and Loyola Marymount for competitiveness. I came straight in from freshman year, but I had to go undeclared for about two years until I finally was officially let in. That can be scary because if you take all the classes for two years and aren't let in, you are way behind, but it's worth it if you have confidence you can do it. I also recommend having any movies or scripts you've made ready when you do apply. Good luck, and there are a good amount of women in the film program, so it's not just men! :)
