Drew is a great school for commuters in the North Jersey area, or a great place for students who did not get into their first choice schools and want to try again after one year. Drew only wants one thing: your MONEY. They have begun accepting anyone who can pay and the quality of students has gone down even over the last year (and students all know of this and hate it). Drew has also revised a lot of rules and taken away all of the fun events (like tent weekend or any other fun social outing). Public Safety is out of control- they over extend their powers and since the campus and area is very safe (which is a plus, there is really no danger, no theft, no violence) they spend all of their time harrassing students and illegally searching rooms. This is a widely known problem on campus and the administration accepts and does nothing. Housing is a complete mess- the director of housing is nasty and waiting to retire and the school has admitted that they cannot fire him because of tenure. They allow him to stay and mess up housing every year because it would cost them more to fire him. The food is terrible, facilities is contracted out- this means that they are short staffed, underpaid and that their bosses do not actually care about Drew. since the facilites services have been contracted out, things are falling apart. Not that anything is ever fixed. there is no money for fixing problems and the dorm are falling down, disgusting and renovations are always promised but never followed through with. There is a new dorm being built because drew has accepted more students than it can house- even though housing in town is way beyond anyone's means. this means either you live in a shitty dorm or you live at home. The students all drag their feet and complain about everything and really just rip each other apart. everyone says that drew is what you make it but as one of the students that chooses to make it good, it still sucks. clubs and sports have limited numbers of people filling their spots and no one actually goes to club meetings or sports games. the weekends at drew are empty- everyone just goes home. if you're super anti social and only want to study and go home, drew is perfect for you. but as an outgoing, attractive girl- my advice is that drew is really not the place for anyone who wants a good balance of fun and academics. the academics are challenging, yes, and the education is great, but the minutes in between still override and really make for a bad experience. the students here are ultra weird, and pride themselves on it. its fun at first but the novelty of a bunch of kids who hate drew, a staff who hates drew and never gets anything accomplished really adds up to the biggest waste of the most expensive tuition possible in jersey.
