Date: May 04 2008 Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time) Baker was a great starter school. It is definitely not the kind of school you want to go to for four years. The professors are really great and most of them have very impressive CVs, but the lack of enthusiasm among the student body really starts to wear on you after a while, and even the professors get discouraged. If you take the time to talk to your professors, though, they will give you a lot of guidance and be very, very honest. Most of them are distinguished profs who chose Baker because of its freedom. The student body is homogenous—everyone's from rural Kansas, with a few people from California—but everyone is very nice. I made a lot of friends, but the small size of the student body was boring after a while. Baldwin is a really small town, and I love how safe it is and its quaint "downtown," but boredom was prevalent. Lawrence is awesome though, and definitely worth the drive. The administration is wonderful, too. Everyone knows your name and will wave fees. There are no parking stickers and they will call you if your car is illegally parked because they don't want to tow it. Baker was great for one year, but don't waste your time all four years.
