Sterling College has an awesome friendly and community atmosphere and that is what they pride themselves upon. Sterling takes its faith seriously, but allows for students to grow in their faith without being pushy. 14 chapel credits are required a semester, but the chaplain works very hard to provide a variety of activities for chapel credit so students don't feel like they are forced to attend a church service. Examples include: service projects, small bible studies, praise and worship times, Wednesday morning traditional service, Sunday evening contemporary service, and speakers on current world issues.

Faculty at Sterling are, for the most part, the best! Most faculty care about the students are want them to succeed. Even after graduation, faculty are still in contact with students and are always available for help. I've been to several faculty member's homes for dinner or even for class. They are knowledgeable and yet they care.

Campus is beautiful, but the one potential drawback is that Sterling, KS is in the middle of nowhere. The nearest movie theatre, starbucks, target, or nice restaurant is a 30 minute drive. Wichita is an hour away which has a much larger variety of nightlife, restaurants, movies, and things to do. However, most students find that when there is nothing to do - they make something to do. The friends I've made at Sterling are going to be life-long friends. We are never bored!

The last thing I'd like to say about Sterling is that being small is a blessing in disguise. We have everything a large university would offer - intercollegiate sports (football, volleyball, track and field, cross country, softball, baseball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's soccer). Sterling has an outstanding theatre, debate and forensics program, a music department with band, choir, and a small string ensemble, an online radio program, a television program, and a variety of activities. Being a small school is great because all classes, including gen-eds, are taught by the department's faculty, not TA's.

I'm proud to say that I just graduated from Sterling College, which has a great reputation in our area for providing quality students and future leaders. If you are looking at colleges, I think you should check out Sterling!
