Hampshire College is entirely what you make of it. You may think that this is true of other schools, and to some degree, it is. But not like Hampshire. Here, you can sink or shine, entirely on your own merit. Too many doobie snacks = bad evals and a job at Taco Bell. Hard work and ingenuity = stellar recommendations by profs who love you. Also, Hampshire is like many colleges, in that it is a bubble. People will be more liberal than thou all over you. On the flip side, the administration is monstrously large and powerful for such a small school. Anything you want to do that is creative or crazy requires slogging through bureaucracy and paper-work, thus preparing you for real life. Please, come to Hampshire, and be awesome. Just ignore the hipsters hanging out smoking butts all around you. They're likely paying full boat and subsidizing your own journey through Hampshire.
