College is what you make it. Colleges promise perfection but not a single one will satisfy all your needs. Also, unless you go to college with all your friends from high school, your gonna be a little lonely and lost first semester. accept it. As someone from the conservative west in a low income bracket, going to a private east coast school was a shift that took some getting use to. I knew i was stepping out of my comfort zone when I applied and I am a more rooted, well rounded person because I did something that made me grow. Colby is not in a big city. If you can't be happy without lots of great restaurants and clubs, you probably shouldn't come here. I love Colby. My professors are inspiring, accessible and interested in me. I love the food, I love the skiing, I love that I can drink on the weekends or not and still have a great time, I love Maine and I love all the fun, motivated, intelligent, talented people I've met from around the country/world. Colby has been awesome but I am actively making it so. The sweet thing is Colby can be whatever you want it to be. You can throw up and hook up every weekend, you can start a campus band (we have many great ones), you can slack line all day, you can sit in the library all night, use the college for research and travel opportunities, take your prof to lunch, you can start an organic garden (except we beat you to it last year), you can go to lectures or boo the red socks or join the knitting club or run the five mile loop and play ultimate and football and lax. whatever. its your experience!Easy guide to college:1. go where you'll be happiest2. go where your gonna have a great education and new opportunities to grow3. go where you won't walk out with tons of debt (Colby has replaced all loans with grants. THIS IS HUGE.)I've always been bad at short answer… Colby's great. come.
