CSU. Where to start. I am an instate student, so I came from a very beautiful affluent mountain community in both scenery and construction. Fort Collins lacks that beauty- it is dry and yellow a good part of the year, not to mention extremely windy and bitter cold in the winter months. The town has it's nicer parts, but most of it is reminiscent of 1960's construction- very unattractive.

Academically, I would say that this school is a little above average- to tell the truth, I've had some pretty great professors, a lot with impressive credentials, who were mostly friendly and willing to help. Of course, there have been some bad apples as well.

What really makes me lean towards rating CSU negatively are the students. Perhaps it's just because last year I was a freshman living in the dorms, but I must say that the general population of the school seems (for lack of a better term) extremely stupid. I applied and got into both CSU and CU (among other schools) and chose to go to CSU because I wanted a more laid back, friendlier environment- and that's not what I got. I hate to be so harsh, but it feels as though most of the students I encountered had very low IQs and weren't terribly academic- they were there to party and gossip and live out a drama filled life. Mind you, most campuses have that, but what I found that is that it was the overwhelming majority. There are a ton of parties, but six months in, the party scene got extremely old and repetitive. I often found myself wishing I had chosen CU, if only to find a more intelligent crowd.
