Texas State is pretty much just a place for kids to go who didn't have the brains or the class to go somewhere like A&M or UT. There are a few good programs here, but they are overshadowed by better programs in the state. The social work program here is pretty good from what I've heard and one of the few in the state.

There's a handful of great students here but also a tankerful of trashy ones. The latter mainly consisting of below average students from high school who think they can spend time getting drunk and high every night until they get that magical degree which will supposedly grant them financial prosperity. They think it's fun now but later in life they'll struggle.

I've seen kids on the roofs of academic buildings on a weekday throwing up from being too drunk. Which is fine except for being on a roof of a school building. That doesn't show a lot of respect to your institution. You won't see that happen at a flagship school.

Lots of kids here from Houston; I think at least 60% of the kids I met were from Houston. It gets old really fast not meeting a lot of people from other areas. I guess the better students from Houston go to A&M because they sure weren't here.

It also kind of sucks that the majority of parties in San Marcos are filled with guys who pretend to be ghetto thugs. That also gets old pretty fast.

The business school here also has ridiculous transfer policies. Why in the world does Texas State require English 1302 before they'll let you into the business school? Theoretically someone can be accepted as a transfer to McCombs but not Texas State because he or she does not have English 1302. What a joke.

I also find it funny that someone on here called UT a "concrete jungle." I'm not a big fan of UT's campus either but it is a lot prettier than Texas State. Texas State also has all these hills which make it a pain to walk around campus on a regular basis.

I've met one guy who graduated from here that was pretty smart and he hated Texas State, too. If you have some class and are willing to push yourself, look into another school in Texas.

responseYou are an ignorant loser!! this school is awesome and filled with great, SMART people who know how to enjoy life from time to time. You don't know a damn thing about TEXAS STATE so quit wasting your time trying to sum it up!!!
responseThe reason why they require an English class for a Business degree is to make sure that you know how to write and express yourself. It's as simple as that.
responseI love how all the Texas State people respond to someone's mere opinion with name calling. Pretty much proves the reviewer's point
