Major: Design Arts - Industrial Design/Graphic Design/etc (This Major's Salary over time)
I've been studying here at UVSC… Er, now UVU, for two years now, studying Graphic Arts and Digital Media. In the time here, I've had some good experiences, some bad ones, and some that were just plain strange.Because the school is open-enrollment, you get a wide spectrum of students, from serious and dedicated ones to slackers who really just show up when they "have the time." It's really an atmosphere where you're weeded out according to the amount of effort that you put in, as opposed to whether you're "good" or not.Of course, there's exceptions, especially when it comes to teachers that are "borrowed" from other universities, such as BYU. To me, the worst teacher I had was a BYU professor of law who was recruited to teach English. (How that one made sense, I'll never know.)For the most part, though, the teachers are great here. They are very helpful, and are especially interested in students that are there to learn. They are dedicated to helping you learn how to utilize your skills, as opposed to simply book learning. At least, that's how it is in my program. The job that I have now working in an awesome production company was a direct result of contact with my instructors. This is getting a little long, but all in all, if you want a place where you actually work towards useful skills, and you're willing to put in the effort, UVU is an excellent school.
