Drexel University

Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
I find that out of my choices of schools, RIT or Drexel, that offered Software Engineering as a major, Drexel was the better choice.

I got the feeling that while visiting RIT the individual colleges are very seperate and do not socialize. That is the exact opposite here at Drexel. I met tons of media/arts and fashion design majors in my dorm even the first year.

I especially enjoy the honors program that I was accepted into. It provided me with priority registration for classes and the chance to have Phillip Pozick as a Professor. He is a professional storyteller. And boy is he amazing.

The coursewok required of me as a software engineer is severely more difficult than that of the computer science students, even though we are in the same class. We are held to a different caliber.

Expect to be working 10-20 hours a week for SE classes alone, not including other coursework. This is a lot of coding and takes lots of patience, but I feel like I know it very well by the end of the week.

The tests were very similar to the homework and labs regardless of the class you were taking, so I did not feel cheated or mislead by the profssors about what was being tested. The professors usually make it very clear when their office hours are, so you can schedual an appointment. But they usually will make an exception if you cannot make it during those times.

Yes it is kinda sad that you only recieve a single summer vacation if you go into the fie year program, but the work experience you gain as a result is priceless! I cannot wait to go back for my second year and start takling the programming assingments.

I will admit that the campus is not very 'pretty', but currently there are major construction plans to make the campus a lot more beutiful and give it that modern feel that many people like now-a-days.

The dorms are ok, and the atmosphere is quite friendly. The city is very nice to hang out in and around. And while there are bad sections of town pretty close, you know it is there so it isn't as scary. The drexel security patrols quite often and you will see them everywhere.

That is about all I can say, I hope to see whoever reads this at least come visit Drexel once (hopefully after construction is finished).
