Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
First of all, I'm a Biochemistry major, not biology major (don't have a choice to choose that)I'm a senior and also an international student. I want to type up an review specifically for international students. I would say, coming to this school, esp. for intl students, you need a lot of cash. Almost all the international students paid full (right now is 24000 per semester!!!!) Now the story will be very different if you either have a super good high school GPA or you have a green card. With greencard, you can pretty much applied as much as scholarship you wantSecondly, this school is pretty much UNKNOWN, i repeat, UNKNOWN to the outside, real-world. The career center is not putting any effort on trying to get companies to recruit people on campus. There is really no major job fair. For international stuents who most likely will go back to their own countries to work, Oxy IS NOT A Place for you, since even most of the companies in the US don't know OXY is a good school. You rather spend the same amount of money but go to USC or UC schools, or event CSU schools, will make ur degree worth more. Non-science majors, such as socialogy or DWA (international relations), are going to have a tough time competiting with people from Ivy leagues, UC, or other well-known schools. For science major, physics department are very tough. Normally less then 10 people each year majored in physics. Bio department is very good, a lot of dedicated professors who want you to learn! But again, a BA degree of biology/biochem majors worth nothing. Biotech companies won't hire you, except if you have hookup or special relationship. After all, this school is really a "stepping stone". This place is for people who want to learn and closely related to their professors. This school is a stepping stone to graduate/dental/med schools for science majors. Unfortunately, this school is not a good stepping stone for econ major going to MBA, due to lack of specific econ and accounting classes (only 1 accounting class available)
