CU is a big school, there is no doubt about it; but what you do with yourself and how you utilize your time spent on campus is solely up to you. The student body is mostly comprised of Colorado natives, kids from California, New Jersey, and Texas. In such a large school, what you get out of it is what you put into it. The kids here will reach out and make an effort to include you, but if you decline once, don't expect them to continue to go out of their way to make you feel included in activities—especially in the cliques that form within the dorms. Academic success is completely dependent on your ability to manage your time correctly and do the assigned homework—if you take the time and do your homework well there is no reason that you won't succeed. Professors are more than willing to help if you just have the guts to go up and talk to them, but if you would prefer to email them, that works just as well. Sororities and frats get a bad rap on campus by people that aren't in them, but Boulder is so oriented into respecting everybody on campus that nobody will immediately judge you if you go greek or not. Lots of weed, ecstasy, beer, and opinionated people. Not a place for the meager or thin-skinned, that's for damn sure. But if you want to go to a school that will give you a great education that you're willing to work for, and you want to have a fun time doing it, this is the place for you. College is waht you make of it, and any school can be a party school. Just remember, everything in moderation. As an out of stater, I have no negative things to say about this school and I couldn't have been happier with my choice.
