SLU is a university that has transformed amazingly over its 190-year history. Since I enrolled in 2005, the University has renovated existing buildings and residence halls, built an $80 million state-of-the-art research building, and a top-notch Arena.

Coming from a Muslim background, I was a bit nervous enrolling in a Catholic university, but SLU is also Jesuit, which makes it a more liberal atmosphere than other Catholic universities. Everyone here is so welcoming and down to earth! Compared to other schools that I have friends at, where many students are snooty, SLU students seem to be real people who love to make friends and better the community.

The campus is gorgeous aesthetically…there are fountains, bronze statues and trees everywhere…it's like an oasis right in the middle of the city. With SLU itself having one of the largest police forces in the state of Missouri, I always feel safe on campus, despite the national attention St. Louis has received for being a "dangerous" city.

I love the John Cook School of Business, which has given me a chance to pursue my interests, and has encouraged me to research and think outside the box. I feel that the university curriculum is academically challenging, and senior year has been my toughest year yet.

I would never trade in my experience at SLU. It has given me a chance to meet people of various backgrounds, help my community, work hard, and has been an amazing college experience.
