Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm still a 1st semester freshman majoring in mechanical engineering, but I feel like I've gained some insight into UIUC already. What's great about the school is the # of clubs and activities there are to get involved in. The campus is also very culturally diverse so you can become friends with people from many different backgrounds. On the other hand, many of the teachers (profs and TA's) are also of different cultures, sometimes making them difficult to understand. For me, both my math prof and my math TA are hard to understand making it difficult to learn anything in class. College classes are waaaay different from hs classes. So far in my classes, it is very difficult to stand out from the crowd and many times individual questions are not answered during lectures depending on the prof. My math prof is usually completely absorbed in his notes and the blackboard while he "teaches" so raised hands go unnoticed, while my chem prof answers almost all of our questions.
