American University was quite possibly one of the worst decisions of my life. I went here because I planned on majoring in International Relations and if you want to study that then this place is decent. Other than that, the student body is self-absorbed, cruel, and rich. Oh and everyone is from New Jersey as well so you might feel out of place if you come from any other state. The city is inaccessible without a car since we are at the top. It takes 20 minutes to take the shuttle to the metro and that is if you do not have to wait as sometimes the shuttle doesn't even come to pick up the students. And the metro closes. The faculty, in terms of staff that are NOT professors are assholes to be perfectly blunt. And the university enjoys ripping you off as much as possible even though you already pay about $50,000 a year to live in this dump. The food is disgusting if you even get to eat since they don't restock the food at the ONE dining hall on campus. And the dining hall is not open very long, but if you miss the 2 hours they allot for each meal at the dining hall you can always go to the Eagle's Nest which will charge you $5 for a bag of chips. I recommend AU if you can't get into Georgetown and are looking to blow $200,000 for four years while living with an excellent group of people.
