I feel the same way! After the first week or two everyone became extremely closed off. They all seemed pretty friendly at first but then everyone just settled into their own little cliques and doesn't talk to anyone else…it's like a giant high school. |
What dorm are you in? I think that matters as a freshman, my son is also class of 2012 and, socially speaking, has the same feeling as you. He signed up for a LEarning Community which put him away from the freshman only dorms and in with the fine arts majors- he isn't clicking with the people at his dorm. Is alone more often than not. You, he and the other respondent should meet one another as it sounds like you all have something in common! |
Oh, I forgot to mention, he's a Psych major too |
I'm in Towers…he's in Buckley I'm guessing? |
I feel the same way about this university… the first 2-3 weeks seemed great, I met up with most people on my floor and got to know them a little. I tried to get to know people in classes and stuff, but after that people just got into their own circles and sorta left me out. It's pretty lonely here about now, because I moved into the campus as a Junior, not a freshman, so it's even tougher to make friends. |
Towers really is not the place to be freshman year. i'm considering transferring and so is my roommate. we're both sociable friendly people with an abundance of friends at home. we're from new jersey and don't know anybody from this school. our floor is downright antisocial. this place just isn't working for us. we cry a lot. |
Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
Im looking to transfer from UConn right now. I wanted to go here my whole life but I am just not enjoying myself at all. I am a very social and outgoing person but have felt very alone here. I have made the effort to try and talk to people on my floor, in the dining halls, in classes, everywhere that isnt weird. Yet people are so stuck in their own lives and no one wanted ot make friends with anyone after the first week. Everyone already has friends from home so coming from MA i felt very alone. Also the parties are so sketchy. If huge parties where you know no one and gross, weird guys who will probably rufie you are your thing then have fun at UConn!!
