Morgan State University

I chose Morgan because i was in-state it was affordable and i got accepted into their honors program, so it was even less money for me. I expected to have so much fun at a historically black college (having been to a white school before)!

The Academics…

Most people will agree that the academics at this school are very rigorous. And being in the honors program i have special classes that are EVEN harder. The honors program is rather controlling and you cannot register for classes or make a move without their consent.

The Dorm Life…

I am a female living in Harper Tubman. Yes the name sounds good and it is RIGHT next to classes but I've had a horrible experience. You have to share (AND CLEAN) a bathroom with four girls it is crazy. Also you have to walk 2-3 minutes to take the garbage out, there is no trash chute like most of the other dorms.

VISITATION IS AWFUL!!!! On the weekdays you must have your guests out by 10:30! Weekend Midgnight, and Sunday 11:00. YOU CANNOT HAVE OVERNIGHT VISITORS…unless they are your FAMILY and you proved that they are and you get written approval weeks in advance.

This means NO PARTIES ON CAMPUS…EVER…ITS SO DRY!

Getting Out…

The only "fun" things to do are go to clubs. They are very costly and the flyers tend to lie about the prices. They are decent if that and not worth going to all the time

Extracurriculars…

That i like. I am on the newspaper and it is very fun. There are lots of clubs and organizations that are cool.

Frats/Sororities…

There are no frat houses or anything and it seems like the groups are never around…also they are constantly getting in trouble for hazing and being kicked off campus

The People…

okay it is nice being around fellow black people that is nice. But they mainly are chillin outside untill 3am and its very dangerous in Baltimore at Night. and many of them are doing illegal activites OUTSIDE…smart… sike.

The Administration…

Hear me when i say the TEACHERS are pretty good but the ADMINISTRATION is awful. Financial aid are awful, little help, rude, i found out they are mainly family members who get jobs because of that.

Want to chagne majors? be prepared to walk around campus for 2-3 hours getting signatures and being told different things from different people.

Bottom line…

The academics are strong, but all of the other frustrations are too much to bare. I plan on transfering A.S.A.P.!

Theres nothing to do, most of the people here because it was their last resort and view Morgan negatively so why be here?

If you want FUN do NOT come here

Plus even though the academics are pretty good, they are not ranked like so. Morgan is only a Tier 4 school so im not staying here through of this to get a degree that isn't from a place that is not as prominent as other schools.

My advice DONT GO TO MORGAN!

TRY ANOTHER HCBU OR MARYLAND TOWSON, SOMEWHERE!!!!!!!
