I was at Potomac State for one year befor leaving for WVU. Lets state with the town. Keyser looks like god took a dump and then called it a town. The town always smells like a rotten skunk becuse of the paper factory about 5 miles away, and the trash dump witch you can see from the edge of campus. The mood is just depresing, everybody hates being there. The campus is right in the middle, in between downtown and the walmart. down town looks like crap, most of the bulidings are up for sale and look like there getting ready to fall down. There is a few food places, but there really spred out, and the locals hate the college kids. Theres no source of night life or entertanment in keyser, no movie theater, no bars, no clubs, the few fast food places closed around 10(even one the weekends), no mall with in 30 min. The one thing they have is a bowling place, its kinda old, small but it seems to be up to date with all the equiment……..On to the school, The kids call Potomac State "13th grade" only you stay in dorms and are watched like your on house arrest. The classes are easy, and the teachers seem to help you out as best as they can. The school is all about attadace, if you miss more than 3 classes you will FAIL THE CLASS no matter what(i dident know this was high school)……The student soical life is non-existent, the school gos above and beond to find kids that are drinking or that have been drinking, and the campus police will stop you for no reson at all (they got the nick name "the fun police", becuase anything you do for fun they make sure you cant do). i my self along with about 90% of the student body got cought and were slaped with about 15 hours of survice, and fined about 200 bucks… oh and you cant forget the power triping campus police who along with getting you in to truble with the school for drinking will make sure you get tickets for drinking for the state….theres about 200 more dollers. the school seems to be out to get people that make mistakes……Potomac State is the worst chioce i made, besides the classes there not a "fully intorgrated part of WVU" like they say they are, your student ID will not work for anything main campus like they say it will and you do not get any reconition from WVU if you choose to get your undergrad there like they say you will. If you have a choise dont go there, the school is filled with red necks and jersey kids and they dont get along. The classes are a joke, you will find your self like 85% of the student body leaving Potomac state for a diffent school.
