I decided to attend Marymount last year pretty much only because I wanted to be in/near Los Angeles. If you're like me and are looking at schools almost ONLY based on location, do more research than I did and try not to be swayed in your decision by all the pretty pictures! Marymount's "campus" (it's way tiny) is definitely beautiful and scenic. It was a gorgeous view and I liked being able to look out at the ocean and the sunsets were really pretty too. I'm from the East Coast,so getting to experience the great weather was a new thing for me and I guess that was the only good thing.

The classes were a JOKE. I guess having easy classes is nice if you come to school hungover every morning, but for the tuition you are paying, it's not worth it at all! I got a B+ in an English class that I think I seriously attended 5-6 times over the course of a full semester. And the reason I didn't attend it more is because we would sit around and do NOTHING in that class, except have some dumb "group projects" which was really just all the kids in class getting together in their own little groups and gossipping about whatever.

If you're a total slacker then this is the school for you. You are paying to go to class to either fall asleep or text. It is what you make it, and a lot of the classes CAN be interesting and valuable but most of them are just jokes and easy A's.

People are NOT quiet in the library and they just go their when they are skipping class to meet up with friends and copy HW answers.

The social life isn't that bad, and this is coming from a girl who is on the "quiet" side. People are friendly, but then you have the biggest snobs on earth because almost everyone who comes to this school have millionaires for parents. I don't really care, but honestly everyone at Marymount drives like 2 BMW's and I knew a couple girls who had excessive plastic surgery already… Well I guess that's LA for you..

There's almost an obscene amount of hard drug use at the dorms and the secutiry is a JOKE! So many things have gone wrong (vandalized property/cars, fights, just wild parties) and no one ever gets in trouble for anything because all the "cameras" you see on lampposts are apparently fake just to scare you out of doing anything "bad". So much shit has gone down without anything being done about it. There are parties and kids drinking every night of the week but Marymount claims to be a "dry campus"… suuure.

The dorms themselves, well they aren't gorgeous, but most of the kids complaining on here are your typical snobs who want a whole wing to themselves. Like I said, I wasn't in love with the dorms, but atleast you have an upstairs and downstairs bathroom for just 4 people living with you, while most other college kids have to share 1 hallway bathroom with up to 8 people on their floor. Seriously put things into perspective, the dorms weren't THAT bad.

Oh but you will have to deal with local "wildlife" around there which include skunks and raccoons that tear through your garbage and crawl into your dorm if you leave any doors open! So beware..

The surrounding areas (like actually in LA itself, not San Pedro) is nice. Like I said, I wasn't used to being able to go to the beach almost any time of year so to me, that was pretty nice. There are some clubs to go to but I wasn't really into that.

If you want a REAL education then don't go to Marymount. If you're lazy and just want to get by and party, then Marymount is for you, but I promise you'll get sick of it. Nobody even does the full 2 years at this school! One more thing, it is a small school. Not small in a good way, small in the way that you seriously get sick of seeing the same people alll the damn time, also word travels fast here and rumors are spread quickly just because people have nothing else to do but talk. Maybe it's just me since I'm used to a much bigger city/setting but even for someone from a smaller town, Marymount is just gay!
