Take the negative comments here to heart. While there may be a couple good departments here, overall UNCC is not a good school. Academically, UNCC is very poor. Everything is catered to the lowest common denominator and there is no support for students who want to do better.

There is no shortage of other miscellaneous annoyances either. For instance, parking is as bad as it could possibly be. You will pay $230 for a parking permit and then come to school every day and spend half an hour searching for a parking space. Every once in a while you will miss classes because you could not find a space.

There are a few reasons why you might decide to go to UNCC:

  • You can't get in anywhere better.
  • It's cheap.
  • You need to be in Charlotte.
  • If none of these reasons apply to you, just stay away.

Advice for those of you stuck at UNCC or another poor school: You can still excel, but you will have to take more responsibility for your own achievement. Since you're at a poor college, you probably don't have a history of excelling independently, so the odds are against you, but it is possible. Find out what resources are available and take advantage of them. Find out what you need to learn and learn it, even if it's not covered in your classes. Similar thinking applies to your overall experience, like social life and so forth. UNCC sucks and I wish I had gone somewhere else, but I still managed to create a good college experience for myself.
