I'm still a first year here, and I have completely mixed emotions about the school.

The campus is absolutely beautiful. The Ashuelot River runs through it, and the arts center overlooks the Brickyard Pond. There is so much green for a tree-hugger like me, something I just couldn't get in the city.

There are a lot of things here, most just a free shuttle ride away. Downtown Keene is very charming, with lovely shops and great restaurants if you get sick of the Dining Commons. I recommend adding the "Flex" option to your meal plan, so you can purchase other foods in the student center.

I am an out of state student from Massachusetts, and Keene State seems very much like high school to me. Most of the people really don't seem to be too bright around here. When you walk around and listen to the conversation, it's kind of painful. There is unintelligence abound here, and it is enough to make you want to slam your head on a desk repeatedly. It was easier to get by here than I expected. The Greek life is little more than annoying, however. As someone who doesn't drink at Keene State, it's a very strange experience. Parties are numerous and loud at the sorority and fraternity houses.

The clubs are quite nice. You will make friends if you join clubs, if you're not "into" the party scene.

The professors are generally nice, respectful, and helpful. They give you their phone numbers and everything, so it is very easy to contact them and ask them for help, if you need it.

All in all, it's a very nice place with great professors. The students are the ones that make it less enjoyable.
