Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
100% employment within three months of graduation and at starting salaries among the highest in the nation. This school offers an excellent education. Approximately 10% of the students are civilian and 90% in the regiment. For most students the training parallels the service academies although far from is difficult or strict as the military academies. Most students wear uniforms and a required to pass a physical regime including times push-ups, situps and a mile and I have run. The faculty dress and act like professionals and treat the cadets with respect. They are always there to assist you as long as you requested it. The campus is a 56 acre peninsula jutting out at the confluence of the East River and the Long Island sound. It is a beautiful well-maintained waterfront campus with fantastic views. Cadets are inspected frequently and have cleaning duties in the evening. They are also assigned watches both on the ship and in the dorms. Most students graduate with over 160 credits. Each May they sail on the freighter Empire State to at least 4 foreign ports. They check takes two months and covers over 10,000 miles. Televisions are a rarity. It is a school where students get a fantastic education but you can expect to work hard. The teaches are excellent, friendly and helpful but set high standards and maintain them. It is not for everybody and definitely not a party school. It is a small school where everybody knows each other and the faculty and there is a close and deep bond between students.
