Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
Gordon is an ok college to get preliminaries out of the way but for degree programs they need help. Being in the nursing program was a dream that turned into a nightmare rather quickly. I had to repeat a semester and when I needed help and sought out the instructor I either was put off by have to make an appointment or well you need to study more then. But I spend 6 to 8 hrs. at night studying and reading what they require. Most classes required you to read 5 to 10 long chapters a night and by the time you got half way through the first chapter was a complete blank. Then you are required to do at least 20 hours plus of computer work, a 8 page paper, clinical paperwork of 16 pages and expected to be in top shape on clinical days. When does anyone find time to have a life or family time during all of this. Plus some of the older students who have to work and support themselves have less time to study. So if I can give any advise to those wanting to go into the nursing profession DO NOT go to Gordon, they may say they have the best program and it is hard to get into but it is harder to stay in by the second semester half of the student will be kicked out for not having passing grades. You can be a good compassionate person but not able to read and retain every single thing read. Yet stupid people who can read and retain and pass a test have no compassion or clinical skills to give good patient care but can get through the gordon program because they know how to read. Better yet how about a student who states she never read a book all through high school and graduated, now she is going to become a nurse because she can take a test by guessing the right answers. Yes those are the nurses we want taking care of us and our families in the future.
