I decided to leave Champlain College after going there for two years. To be honest I did enjoy my time at Champlain a lot but was ready for something different. To start I never felt very challenged, I did very well all four semesters without doing a lot of work. The campus does have good resources for their students (math lab, writing lab), however trying to get in touch with my advisor was extremely difficult. The school is very focused on its image constantly competing with surrounding schools to make it stand out by building a “close knit community. The school has greatly changed from when I started, the school now prides itself on its 3-d education with their new COR and Lead Programs. Which I have heard very mixed reviews about. I loved the majority of my professors most of them were intelligent, approachable and helpful. I could not stand the student body. Basically split in to two groups; group A stoners wearing large graphic hoodies who went to Champlain because it is located in Burlington near ski mountains, and group B primarily computer majors (some are extremely nice others weird) and people who love themselves and spend the whole class telling personal stories that do not relate to the discussions. I was able to meet some cool people and it is nice that you can move off campus whenever because there is not enough housing. Overall the school has good intentions but does feel a lot like thirteenth grade. If you are looking for something much different from high school Champlain College is probably not the best choice.
