Attending Northeastern is a big part of my family's values. My mother has been working at Northeastern for a majority of her life and because of her, I am able to attend for free. Given this opportunity, I cannot imagine having to pay for the environment I am in.

There seems to be a serious obsession with three things:

Fashion (Northface, Uggs, Bright-Colored Leggings, Messy Ponytails, Straight Jeans, Sunglasses In Winter)

Athletics (Ignorant Jocks, Emphasis On Football, Husky Pride)

Money (Co-op Program, 80's-Like Decorating Scheme, Pointless Electronics, Random Fountains of Water, Automatic-Everything Restrooms)

There is such a stress on modernity that it's almost sickening. Students are constantly being bombarded with advertisements (Greenpeace handing out pamphlets, Sidewalk Chalk Campaigning, Fliers, ect…). There is practically no way to just relax. The 5th floor of the library is completely silent and pretty much the only get away if you're actually interested in doing work.

While many schools have too little going on on campus, Northeastern, seems to have too much. There are so many programs, both school and student run, that you're more likely to join a program you hate than one you actually fit into. There's the Drama programs, the African American programs, the Latino/a programs, the Chinese American programs, the Religious programs… with all these separate communities, there's no way Northeastern will ever feel like a close-knit community. It's like a city within itself.
