Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
Just finished my first semester at Mason and overall i had a great time. Classes were hit or miss. You either like them or not. I liked my history, English and math classes because they challenged the way I thought and made me approach things in different ways. My other two classes were biology and engineering(don't come here to major in engineering), and they were nothing more than take notes, memorize, take exam repeat. My suggestion is figure out which classes you want as early as possible and learn about the teachers. The halls are in real great condition and are extremely livable, not lavish, livable. I'm in Presidents Park (freshmen exclusive)and like it a lot. I hope to move into one of the new apartments they built. I haven't been in them yet but I've heard great things. The campus is pretty compact(and beautiful) so getting anywhere, except the field house and intramural fields, requires a short walk. Southside is the main dining hall and serves pretty much anything you could think of, and it's all you can eat. Other than that you have the restaurants at the jc atrium, among which include taco bell and burger king, a sub store, a cafe/deli place and a few ethnic restaurants. There is also a Damons and a chic-fil-a but they don't accept meal plans of any kind and are expensive. I think that the social scene at GMU is what you make of it. The best way to have a good time is to get involved. Play intramural sports, get involved in Greek life, attend sporting events(especially the basketball games),or join academic organizations. Other than that you will still find yourself having a good time just chilling with your friends. Unfortunately there aren't any frat or sorority houses on campus so parties take place in houses off campus and usually the only way to get in is to either be in said frat/sorority, or know people in one(usually harder this way if you are a guy). Note this though, if you do get into a party, you will have a blast. If all you want to do is party though and aren't willing to pledge, than I'd suggest going somewhere else. Otherwise, if you could find other ways to have a good time, than Mason should serve your needs. Its a greatly improving school with an increasing reputation and a bright future.
