URI is an amazing school. Pay no attention to the review below me. You have to keep in mind that these reviews are only going to be REALLY positive, or REALLY negative. People who LOVE URI, are not about to go online and write about it. People who HATE URI, are obviously going to try and complain somewhere. So, this is my honest and academic review.

The person below me suggested going to a Private School. Well, it just so happens I transfered FROM a private school. If you want the needy individual attention (which will not be given to you later in life), and a smaller school, by all means go for it. HOWEVER, kids WILL be going home on the weekends. Private schools don't have very large populations, and most live off campus after their Freshman year. At URI, the campus is always packed with people. You obviously have your commuters, but the school is so big, it doesn't matter. There's ALWAYS something to do. The school does plan trips, and there are plenty of events on campus. It is ignorant to say that "There are only a few parties here and there." GET INVOLVED. If you want to get in with a group of people, join a frat. There are certainly "groups" of people who get along better, but the school itself is NOT cliquey.

Being an in-state student, URI is the most value for MY money. With the economy the way it is, this is by far the best choice for me. I can take my classes, and in the future, I can get a job part time. Once you graduate, the college you went to is essentially meaningless. Wherever you go, it's what YOU make of it! It really bothers me to see how many people complain about stuff so useless, such as,

I am soo bored all the time.
Get up and do something! Study, go excercise, get a bite to eat with some lady friends, just do SOMETHING.

People have such a warped view of what college life should be like because of television. They don't want to work, study, or do anything helpful. They just want to party and be lazy. You can't expect to be entertained everyday, and people are so pampered nowadays, that's all I've seen. There is CERTIANLY time for partying, BUT, you have to do your work! In fact, in response to the person below me once again, PRIVATE SCHOOLS are even worse. It's all snotty rich kids who are finally happy to be away from their parents. They party, they get bored, and THEN they complain. Most people can't take a class and never have to study. EVERYONE has to do some sort of work to recieve a good grade. With that being said, I hope this review helped. URI is a great school, it is a fun time, and you will make some great friends. Providence is a really fun place, and Newport is within driving range too. Being next to the beach is also a plus. =] Good luck with your college decisions, I hope you all do your best!
