Like pretty much everyone else has said, if you're just out of high school and want to have a good time, go for it. But you won't get a very satisfying academic life if you're also wanting to get that social life that's so prized here. I've been at Western for 2 years now and the friends I've made OUTSIDE of the bars/clubs have been great, but the atmosphere is too trashy for me. The student body here does NOT emphasize serious education - no way. I'm transfering out. I have encoutered a select few motivating, unique professors (the kind you never forget) but the student body is what gets me. No one is friendly in class and all they discuss is how hung over they are. The campus itself is bland and depressing, especially during the winter. You're in the middle of cornfields and there is absolutely nothing except bars, Walmart, and a Buffalo Wild Wings. Safety is A+, I'm comfortable with their precautions (I think there's 51 emergency boxes around campus and students & parents get emergency texts and calls whenever we get a shooting threat, which is usually once a year.) The MTV show "Busted" was here last semester, it's that rediculous. So if you want it…
