Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
I was expecting GC&SU to be a pretty easy university in terms of course work. I was wrong about that. I can't vouge for the other major's, but being a psychology major isn't easy. The one thing that upset me most about this major howerver, was that the projessors didn't really drill it into my head until the later part of my 2nd year, how important grades, participation, internships, are to get into Grad school. Now I know you're thinking "of course they are!" But the emphasis wasn't placed on them until later in my college career. I did not do well my first or second year here. I have yet to fail a class but I have acquired two D's and a couple C's which by my standards is pretty bad. I think I would have studied much harder had the psychology professors, and professors in general, motivated us from the very beginning.

This being said, I still the think the psychology professors are very helpful. If you work hard enough, getting research opportunities with the faculty is fairly easy. The main con to this college is the town. Milledgeville is an abyssmal stain on Georgia. Coming from Atlanta, this was a huge change for me. I expected to like the smaller town environment, but I ended up hating it. There is nothing to do in this town other than drink excessively. And if you're like me, you don't like to do that. One other thing that bothers me is Greek life. But by all means, if you want to be transformed into a Barbie or Ken, this is the college or you. Prepare to see a lot of blonde, overly beautified, and tan woman. On the opposite gender spectrum, be prepared to see a lot of men in khakis and polo shirts. People look at me as the antichrist when I tell them I don't even own a polo shirt.

Building on the FACT that this town sucks, be prepared to take up or further a hobby of yours. Mine is music, and I spend a good amount of time bettering myself as a musician. Unfortunately I listen to and play heavy metal, and this town loves rap and country music, consequently I can't exactly find other people to play with,

One word of advice, if you are like me, and are very liberal, open-minded, and don't like to go downtown every night and get smasehd, befriend students in the art department. For the conforming Greek's tend to stay out of there.
