Denison is an excellent institution that provided me with a quality liberal arts education. I feel confident in my abilities to analyze any topic or situation from many different angles, due to the people and experience that I had while I was a student there. Compared to a lot of my co-workers, I feel more educated and informed based upon the things that I learned in and out of the classroom. Although you will receive a top notch education from this university, select it with caution. The social dynamic of the school is absolutely ridiculous. Though they try to claim that they have an national and international student body, it is really just a snapshot of upscale north shore Chicago, elitist trust fund Connecticut snobs and a lot of Ohio students that are pretty down to earth for the most part. THERE ARE NO SECRETS AT A 2,500 STUDENT RURAL RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE. Everyone gossips about everyone and people will assume to know your entire story before you have even been formally introduced to them. The greek system is very dominant and you will immediately be put into a box based on what house you choose to join. Drinking is a major part of the social scene (hey it is college) and most weekend nights are spent in sweaty hot dorm rooms (not apartments as they would like you to believe that they provide), or at the bar in Granville. Ohio in general does not provide a lot of entertainment, and the winters are extremely gray and dreary. Columbus is pretty close and accessible, however Ohio St. athletics and drinking dominate that scene too. The town of Granville is nice, however the residents are not very friendly towards students. Its almost as if they want to have a college in their town so they can go to speakers and concerts, yet they despise it when college kids act their age.Denison is great school with a weird social scene in a strange Ohio town. I'm very happy to have had the experience and it will help me tremendously for the rest of my life. Would I go back and do it all over again? … Not a chance
