First of all, the campus is NOT the safest, but it is definitely not UNSAFE. Admittedly, there have been a couple of stabbings/shootings within the past few months. However, these are not students—they're townies. Also, these have mostly been drug related, which happens anywhere. Furthermore, although they have been right around the campus, they haven't been in students' houses or anything like that.

People are writing not to call Public Safety for a ride after a party or they will bust you—ABSOLUTELY FALSE. First of all, the people driving are always students—they don't care if you're drunk. I've taken several Public Safety rides in which I spoke with the students about my night and what I did. What Public Safety DOES DO, is that after around 4 or 5 am if you call for a ride, they send a cop to pick you up. I've been in the car, absolutely tanked, with these cops before. THEY ALSO DO NOT CARE IF YOU'RE DRUNK. Unless you act like a complete moron or throw up in their car, they couldn't care less what you're doing.

There is PLENTY to do around campus… I can't imagine what the campus is missing. Although UD is not a small school student-wise, the campus still feels very comfortable and it's rare that you will ever have to walk far to a class or to Main Street, which has anything you need.

Academics are very good—most professors are extremely helpful and intelligent. I am currently in my 6th semester and I can only name 2 professors I have taken that I did not like. Although the school does not give a heavy workload, the grading is tough, so unless you are in an easy major, you WILL be challenged.

If you are looking for a party school, THIS IS IT. There's PLENTY to do on the weekends. There are bars all along main street, and several house parties. I saw someone write a review on here saying that the house parties aren't fun since everyone is always afraid of having cops come. That is 100% false. I go to several parties every weekend and in my third year here, have never been to a party that has gotten broken up by cops. Now I will admit, if you are not a drinker or you are not the type to go out to bars or house parties, this is probably not the school for you. Students here do work hard, but they party hard also. This is something I've seen criticized in these reviews, and I don't see why it would be. Throughout the years, UD has had a reputation as a big party school, so please do not go here if you don't like the party aspect of it, and then complain that all people do is party on the weekends. I understand that many people aren't into that scene, which is fine, but then this is not the school for you.

Although I love UD dearly, I will admit that something they must improve on is parking on campus. You must pay WHEREVER you park and tickets are given out like crazy. I will admit though, that these tickets are relatively cheap than tickets you'd get in other areas—usually about $10-$20.

One other aspect of the school that can be improved is the registrar department. Although registration can be frustrating no matter what college you go to, with UD's registration, it's almost impossible to get the classes and schedule you'd like. The advisors though—at least the ones in the business department that I've had—are extremely helpful and can usually help to get you into classes you have a problem getting into.

Altogether, UD is a great school. Sure, it has its problems here and there, but it makes for a GREAT college experience. I'm very happy with my decision to attend UD.
