I am a second semester transfer student who resides on the Madison campus. I'll sum up the social life here in one word BORING!!!! The school never has anything to do here. When I looked into transferring here the admissions people and the tour guides basically lie through their teeth. They tell you that there is always something to do on campus but the truth is there is NEVER anything to do here. Everyone goes home on the weekends as evidenced by the lack of cars in the parking lots and the limited hours food is served in the cafeteria.

I was told that there would be special orientations for transfers to meet each other and that was so FALSE. The orientation that was held on campus before school started did nothing to help the students meet each other-it was strictly information and sitting with your parents The freshman students were able to move into their dorms several days before school started and were required to attend orientation meetings for a few days, but transfer students did not have any orientations or anything to help meet other students. I moved into an upper classman dorm one day and the next day classes began. There was nothing planned to help meet other transfer students or any other students. I was told to join clubs to meet people, but the club sign up day was a week after school started and the only clubs that were presented were the Greek life clubs and the cancer society club. Not much to choose from if you're not interested in Greek Life!!!!

There are a few parties at the pub on campus that are run by fraternities but the students have to be over the age of 21. I don't get why these parties need to be for 21 and over, considering the fact that most students who are that age are either seniors or graduate students. The bulk of the students are not allowed to go. The only other things that the school lists on their calendar are sports events. There are no theme nights, no meet and greets, no special trips planned - basically nothing. I guess thats why everyone goes home every weekend and a lot of people even go home on Tuesdays and come back Wednesday nights (There aren't a lot of Wednesday classes.)

If you are looking to get the full college experience don't come here!!! The campus is really pretty, the buildings are really nice, but there is basically no social life!!!
