Major: Geography and Geosciences (This Major's Salary over time)
The Department of Geography is probably an okay place for undergraduates and master's-level students, but PhD students would do well to stay away from here. The department is highly dysfunctional. The Department of Geography is a repressive place with strange pressure put on PhD students to engage in social activities with the other people from the department. It is as if professors think that the PhD students do not come to the program already with fully developed lives of their own. There is an unspoken pressure to group-think, and people who think outside of the box are scorned. Some professors delight in publicly humiliating female graduate students. American women, in particular, should stay away from here, unless you consider yourself a blank slate to be shaped and molded by dominating personality types.
