I went to Gateway for a year, and am now at a high level engineering school. I now realize how great of an experience that Gateway was.The students are motivated. Everyone is there for the same reason, to get an education. Some of the slacker types think that they can get off easy at Gateway because it is a community college, so it "must be easy." These people end up dropping their classes within the first few weeks. The quality of the classes is excellent. The student body and faculty are both very diverse, and most are very approachable. They love what they're doing. The computer facilities and labs are much better than expected for a community college. You will always have access to what you need, as well as plenty of quiet places to study. If you are planning on transferring to one of the state schools or Uconn, as many people do, voice that when you are signing up for classes. They will help you pick out classes that will count for transfer credit, or classes which are prerequisites to those which do. The school that I am at now ended up taking all the credits for my humanities courses. It is also cheap to go here. You get the course quality of the state schools, but without the price. If you are considering this school, then just go for it, you will not be disappointed.
