If you are looking for meaningful core classes and a active social life on campus, choose another school. There is not many positive things i can say about our core classes, 3 semesters of philosophy and theology seem pointless and dumb, not to mention the absurd fist year writing program and public speaking courses here. As for dorm life, its horrible. The campus is very much less pretty than say queens college. The dining halls are not open at good times for busy students. Its very easy to get involved on campus is your are of a minority ethnic background. I am in no way racist. I am just another average grade, white girl. However, the most active clubs on campus are the Latin American Students organization, or the caribbean students organization, or the African american student organization. i still cannot believe they charge us to go to our own basketball games, 15 dollars? 40,000 dollars of tuition couldnt get us into a few basketball games ( the one actualy fun thing on campus). If something breaks in your dorm, i would suggest goign out and buying what you need to fix it yourself. Because the maintenence crews, who speak no english, take two weeks to come and fix a light bulb, They will leave you in the dark for two weeks. I also feel as though the segregate the students inthe dorms. I am in a rom of all white girls. My neighbors are all black, girls across the hall are indian. And the rest of the hall is asian. all they talk about is diversity, but yo never get a feel for it in the residence halls because you are put with peopelof the same race. As for the saftey, its good however, if you want to bring somebody on campus, or stay overnight. Be prepared to wait an hour or two ro the sargeant to come and clear you visitor! if you like having fun, and really want that college field, do not apply.
