Major: Music Education (This Major's Salary over time)
Mary Baldwin has a very unique atmosphere. I'm in my second year here and I'm still in love with it. If you come here with a good attitude you warmly be warmly welcomed. As with anywhere else in this world you do have to put in at least a little effort to make friends, but once you do you will find yourself having great friendships that last. As a women's college we dont have a normal campus, we have very few men the comraderie between women here is strong than you have probably ever seen. There are people who cause drama, but it is easy to avoid by distancing yourself and making new friends. My professors are among the most intelligent people I have ever met. They are very easy to get along with and always willing to help. The concept of higher education is something you can definitly expect when you come to MBC, we may be small but the expectations are high, though not unreachably so.The campus is kind of small. We do not have much of a night life, if your looking for a school with lots of parties you may want to look some place else. Many of the students who do not like MBC are those who complain that we are boring and there is nothing to do but go somewhere else. To those people I would say maybe you need to consider going to a different school, most of the students here are not here to party but to get a good education. When I first came here I too was a little shocked by all the rules but you should know that they are not unreasonable and you get used to them. The rules we have are descendant of the rules that college has had since it's beginning in 1842. They are a mark of the high expectations of this school. One thing you may not have heard much about is that we are completely student governed. We have an honor code we all sign as freshmen and are expected to uphold. Our stuedent government is what allows us to have take-home tests and self scheduled exams.I would recommend Mary Baldwin to anyone how is seeking a higher education outside of the 'normal college experience. It may seem a little shelter but you will come away with a self-understanding you never thought possible. If you are apprehensive about our social environment schedule an over-night tour, this will give you a good idea of what life is like on campus.
