I don't know about other people's experiences at GCU, but mine was very productive and challenging. The Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is one of the best, especially the one in technology. Personally, I think that some people make negative comments about universities because they feel frustrated for some many reasons, in specific those students studying or doing their degrees completely online. We have to be honest and say that the online and other distance learning methods of study are not suitable for every student. There are students who are willing to succeed in a complete online program and others simply will succeed going to the campus and taking the classes inside a classroom.

Therefore, the online environment is very demanding and challenging not only at Grand Canyon University, but in every college offering online or distance learning programs. I you are the kind of person who procrastinate everything, and a person with no discipline for independent studies definitely think before you enroll at any distance learning program either in state or private universities.

responseI appreciate your comments but unless you've been through the online program, don't feel that you have the knowledge to comment on it. My personal experience in the online courses were very very bad and not because I didn't put effort into it. I found my teachers to be unhelpful. Just like some students aren't suited to do well in an online environment, neither are some teachers. Bad business is what ruined my experience with them overall. An advisor tried to get me to purchase private tutoring lessons from him for under the table cash. For a school that offers courses in religion, this offended me and was the last disappointment I could take from them. They do not care about their online students and I fully believe it is a rip off. I hope the campus is much better than their online programs.
responseI don't agree with the responder. First, the reviewer had been through the online program (please read more carefully). I, myself, have also been through the online program at GCU and completed it. It's really not that difficult but you do need to be the kind of person who is able to read and understand what you are reading along with being a good writer. I'm not saying that you are not these things but the reality is that these courses are meant for more advanced students who do not need one-on-one attention from teachers. Online courses are for students who can learn more on their own as opposed to learning more from a teacher.
