I left Guilford halfway through the second semester of my freshman year. If you are a student dealing with depression or any other mental issues, the student "help" center is completely unhelpful and cold, and this was a big part of the reason I left.

I had three excellent classes and a professor who seriously changed my life, but other than that the classes are boring and vapid. I had two professors who were condescending and really "dumbed down" the classes. I really felt as though almost every class was pandering to the kids they thought would do the worst. In spite of this, there is seemingly endless amounts of meaningless busywork to be completed.

Socially, the school is not what it advertises- there isn't much diversity and many of the students are closed-minded to an annoying point (I was actually called a "yankee" about five times) The culture is extremely "Bro"-y. Lots of beer pong, stupid naked people running screaming past your dorm room at 3am. Bryan Hall is ridiculous, my friends and I often compared it to a gladitorial arena.

The school has a few great teachers and some of the classes looked extremely interesting (although the gen ed requirements are so ridiculous you'll probably never get to take them). I wouldn't go to Guilford if you are under the impression that it is somehow different from other liberal arts schools- you'll just end up disappointed like me.
